Redefining Science Education Through Innovation
The young minds of Little Stars High School recently took a giant leap beyond the classroom. Our students proudly participated in Avishkar: Beyond Atoms 4.0, a prestigious Interschool Science Fest held at the iconic Indian Museum, Kolkata.
Organized in collaboration with B.D. Memorial Jr. School, this event served as a vibrant platform for young learners to showcase their scientific temper and creative problem-solving skills.
A Child-Centric Approach to Learning
Unlike traditional competitions, Avishkar: Beyond Atoms 4.0 was designed as a non-competitive, child-centric programme. The core philosophy of the event focused on:
- Curiosity over Competition: Encouraging students to ask “why” and “how.”
- Confidence Building: Providing a stage for every child to speak and present.
- Holistic Appreciation: Every participant was recognized, reinforcing that true education is about the journey of discovery, not just the destination.
Little Stars, Big Ideas: Aligning with Global Goals
Our innovators from Class IV and Class V took center stage, presenting projects they designed under the mentorship of their teachers. What made their presentations truly stand out was their alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Key SDG Themes Explored:
| Goal Number | SDG Title | Student Focus Area |
| Goal 9 | Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure | Resilient building and smart tech. |
| Goal 10 | Reduced Inequalities | Tech-driven solutions for inclusivity. |
| Goal 11 | Sustainable Cities & Communities | Eco-friendly urban planning. |
| Goal 12 | Responsible Consumption | Waste management and circular economy. |
| Goal 13 | Climate Action | Renewable energy and carbon reduction. |
Through working models and articulate explanations, our students proved that age is no bar when it comes to understanding and addressing real-world challenges.
Distinguished Guests and Inauguration
The event was a star-studded gathering of academics and cultural leaders. The fest was inaugurated by Mr. Marc Boudin (Director, Alliance Française du Bengale), alongside:
- Prof. Susmita Basu Majumdar (University of Calcutta)
- Shri Priyanath Chattopadhyay (President, Omkarnath Mission Mahamilan Math)
- Ms. Soma Chakraborty (Healthcare Leader, Manipal Hospitals)
The presence of Dr. Sayan Bhattacharya (Deputy Director, Indian Museum) and Dr. Suman Sood (Director & Principal, B.D. Memorial Jr. School) further inspired the young participants to pursue excellence in their scientific endeavors.
A Commitment to Holistic Education
Participation in such a high-profile interschool event reflects the core values of Little Stars High School. We believe in providing a value-based education that goes beyond textbooks to nurture social responsibility and creative thinking.
We are immensely proud of our students for representing the school with such confidence, responsibility, and enthusiasm. They are truly the “Little Stars” leading us toward a brighter, more sustainable future.
